India vs West Indies: Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Co. eye ODI domination over Dwayne Bravo-led side

Kochi:  After demolishing the West Indies in Sachin Tendulkar's farewell Test series, the Indian cricket team will look to extend its supremacy in the ODIs as well when the two sides face off in a three-match series starting in Kochi on Thursday.

The 2-0 whitewash against the Caribbean outfit was the perfect send off for the legendary Tendulkar, who called it quits after serving Indian cricket for nearly a quarter of a century.

The emotional curtain call left everyone, including the man of the moment, in tears even taking the focus away from the cricket that was played.

Pakistan batsmen are likely to face a barrage of short balls now that the two teams will play in South Africa

The South African half of the four-match Twenty20 home and away series between these two teams has arrived but the promise it could have been accompanied with, has not. Pakistan were outplayed in the UAE, in both matches, although the result of the second's suggested it was much closer than it really was.
Batting collapses at the top and tail of their innings have left Pakistan with plenty of repair work to do. They spent two days after their arrival in South Africa training at the Wanderers but decided to take the day before the match off. Still, they've had more preparation time than South Africa, who only regrouped on Tuesday.

Uthappa returns to boost Karnataka

Robin Uthappa missed the first two games due to injury the Karnataka opening batsman who missed the first two Ranji Trophy games due to a hamstring strain, has been named in the squad for the next two matches. However, allrounder Stuart Binny, who scored a century in the drawn match against Gujarat, is set to miss the next two after injuring his right knee.

The team will be captained by the wicketkeeper CM Gautam, filling in for the regular captain Vinay Kumar, who has been called up to the India ODI squad for the home limited-overs series against West Indies.

Disgraced Sreesanth to tie knot on December 12

Banned Indian pace bowler cricketer S. Sreesanth will tie the nuptial knot on December 12 with a girl from a royal family in Rajasthan at the famous Sri Krishna temple at Guruvayoor.

The disgraced pacer will be marrying Nayan next month at the Guruvayoor Sri Krishna temple, Sreesanth's mother Savithri Devi said on Monday.

Pakistan focus on batting improvement

For a batting line-up that is struggling and just arrived to play a series in what is widely acknowledged one of the toughest places to make runs, Pakistan have an unusual amount of confidence. Mohammad Hafeez, their T20 captain, said their showing on this soil earlier this year will serve as inspiration for the upcoming series.

"We put up a good show in the shorter formats and we believe in this part of the world, we've done reasonably well.," Hafeez said ahead of the team's first practice session at the Wanderers in Johannesburg. Pakistan won the only Twenty20 that was played - the first was a washout - by 95 runs and came back twice in the ODI series to level it at two-all going into the final match, which they lost.

Shane Watson delivered linking spells usefully in England

"It will just depend on how I continue to go over the next few days and get a gauge on what capacity I'll be able to play. Everything's progressing really well at the moment, but I'm not putting a huge expectation on me being able to bowl a huge amount in the first innings, it is more seeing how it progresses to get the balance right between getting as close to full capacity as I can without heightening the risk of re-injury."

Rahul Bose and a lot of CELEBRITIES in the crowd BREAK DOWN in happiness. This is undoubtedly the GREATEST FAREWELL TO A CRICKETER!!

Sachin Tendulkar's MARCH is over now. The GOD OF CRICKET goes all the way in the middle of the ground and BOWS DOWN on the pitch. He TOUCHED IT TO HIS EYES and walks back in TEARS again. He takes the FINAL WALK towards the DRESSING ROOM!!

Sachin Tendulkar broke down in tears at the Wankhede

West Indies were bowled out for 187 runs in the second innings against a superb bowling performance by India. A comprehensive win for India in the end as expected. Tendulkar took his hat off to acknowledge the crowd's cheer before going off. West Indies were already 3 down at the end of Day 2. They were not expected to survive long today and that is exactly what happened. It wasn't all that a bad pitch to bat on, but some poor shot selection by Samuels, Deonarine early on opened the floodgates. Ojha and Ashwin ran through the West Indies lower-order at will. Chanderpaul and Ramdin fighted for a while but the former misread a Ashwin slider which hurt the visitors badly. Ramdin went on to make a fine fifty,

Sachin Tendulkar with his children

Sachin Tendulkar with his children, India v West Indies, 2nd Test, Mumbai, 3rd day, November 16, 2013

Sachin Tendulkar was given a lap of honour on the shoulders of his team-mates.

The curtain came down on Sachin Tendulkar's storied Test career with one of India's most comprehensive victories, as a hapless West Indies crumbled on the third morning in Mumbai. Tendulkar walked off the field with a tear in his eye and to a fluid guard of honour from his team-mates, soaking in the cheers of the Wankhede crowd one last time.

Pragyan Ojha took his second five-for of the match, and Ashwin finished with seven in the match, but the only spin bowling Indian fans wanted to see was the all-sorts of Tendulkar. Ten minutes before the scheduled close of the first session, by when West Indies had lost eight wickets in another inept batting performance, Tendulkar was brought into the attack. Though the crowd was desperate for a wicket, Tendulkar's final two overs produced no breakthrough. MS Dhoni brought back his main bowlers and within a handful of overs, the Test was brought to an end with Mohammed Shami flattening the middle stump of the West Indies No. 11 Shannon Gabriel.

WEST INDIES OVERS: 14.over II SCORE: 45/1

Darren Bravo is the new man in the middle. Bhuvi comes round the wicket to Powell in the seventh over. Just a couple off the fifth delivery from the over. Shami continues and facing him is Bravo. And a cold welcome follows as Shami forces the southpaw to duck after pitching the first short. Bravo gets off the mark with a flick to long on boundary for his first four. Just four from the over. The ninth, by Bhuvi, is a maiden. Powell flicks the penultimate delivery of the 10th over, by Shami, to deep midwicket region for his second four. Five runs from it.

Live Cricket Score: Pakistan vs South Africa, ICC T20 World Cup 2012 Super Eights match at Colombo

Both South Africa and Pakistan will look for a winning start, when they clash in the Super Eights round of the ongoing ICC World Twenty20 tournament on Friday in Colombo.

There is very little to separate the two teams as South Africa lock horns with Pakistan in what is expected to be a battle of attrition in their ICC World Twenty20 Super Eight match on Friday.
Both teams will be equally confident after their emphatic showings in the group stage of the tournament, and it will be interesting to see who emerges winner at the R Premadasa Stadium stadium.

After winning the fourth ODI by 28 runs, South Africa wrapped up a series win, meaning the final match in Sharjah is a dead rubber. This provides an interesting conundrum for the visitors, who might be tempted to rest some of their senior players and field some of their youngsters instead.
